Since Phoenix isn't really one of Martin Truex Jr.'s best tracks while Martinsville is, Sunday likely marked Truex's last chance to win in the NASCAR Cup Series. Although he won the pole and led the first 41 laps of the race, he sped on his first pit stop before later being involved in a crash and then being trapped a lap down when a caution came out after he had pitted. All these incidents resulted in a 24th-place finish for Truex in yet another example of the No. 19 team snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
