Former third baseman Scott Rolen was the only one of the 28 candidates on the BBWAA Hall of Fame ballot to be elected on Tuesday, as reported on MLB Network. It was the 47-year-old's sixth year on the ballot. Rolen's 17-year career was spent with the Phillies, Cardinals, Reds, and Blue Jays. His career slash line was .281/.364/.490 with 2,077 hits, 316 home runs, and 1,287 RBI. Rolen earned many accolades over the course of his career, including being named the National League Rookie of the Year in 1997, earning one Silver Slugger Award in 2002, making seven All-Star appearances, earning eight Gold Glove Awards, and winning a World Series in 2006. Rolen will become the 18th third baseman elected, which is the lowest total among fielding positions.--Connelly Doan - RotoBallerRead More News
