Scott Effross Needs Tommy John Surgery
Scott Effross (elbow) was left off the roster for the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians this week because he had an elbow issue. It's been determined that he will need to undergo Tommy John surgery. It's a major loss for the Yankees bullpen, especially since they'll also be without Aroldis Chapman due to disciplinary reasons. Effross will likely miss all of next season as well. The 28-year-old right-hander was a linchpin of the Yankees bullpen during the regular season. He had a 2.13 ERA (3.43 FIP), a 1.03 WHIP, three saves and 12 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings for the Yankees this year after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs.
