Sam Darnold 2020 Outlook: Mono-Free and Ready to Breakout
5 years agoJets quarterback Sam Darnold has a significantly better offense around him heading into 2020. The offensive line has been addressed throughout the draft and free agency and his receiving corps is mildly improved. While the Jets did lose Robby Anderson in free agency, they replaced him with a similar archetype in Denzel Mims and are getting back a presumably healthy Chris Herndon. Sam Darnold was one of the league's best QBs from a clean pocket last season and will hopefully have plenty of them to show out from this season. He is athletic enough to add some chunk yardage with his legs and maybe even score a few rushing touchdowns. While his game is not the most fantasy-friendly due to the offense's pace, he is talented enough to provide value as a back-up fantasy QB in friendly matchups. He should not be drafted in shallower leagues but is viable in 14-plus teamers as a starter.
