Salvador Perez's Power Is Surging Again
7 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez continues to showcase his power in the spring league. After posting a seventh straight career high in homers in 2017, Perez has picked up right where he left off by shellacking two already this spring. The real challenge for Perez will be whether he can drag his batting average up some along with the pop. So far this spring, he's lived up to the task, hitting .333 to this point. If he can bring it up, he moves from being a top-five catcher to a top-50 player overall. However, that's a big ask, and most owners would be smarter to pass on this elite backstop in favor of someone cheaper who can still provide 20-plus home runs.
