Salvador Perez Continues To Struggle
6 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez is mired in a bit of a strange slump. It's not that he's pulling 0-fer after 0-fer, it's just that he's only getting one hit every other game or so. On the surface, he's safely hit in four of his last seven games, but a slightly deeper dive into the stats shows that he's gone 5-for-30 in that time, good for a .167 batting average over the span. He continues to sell out for power, and he refuses to take a walk as evidenced by the fact that he's only walked twice in the last eight weeks. That's all the bad news. The good news is that it likely won't continue much longer. His hard hit percentage is sky high (44.9%, 18th best in the majors), and everything else is in line except his BABIP. His BABIP is sitting at .241, way below his career average. Expect Perez to be a hot hitter that fantasy teams can use for their playoff push.
