Sal Frelick 2023 MLB Player Outlook: One Of The Best Pure Hitters In The Minors
2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick is one of the best pure hitters in the minor leagues. In each of his two minor leagues seasons, the former Boston College star has hit around .330 with an OBP of just over .400. Overall, in 731 plate appearances, Frelick has racked up 36 steals, 36 doubles, and 13 home runs with a .331/.406/.476 slash line. While there's not a ton of power in the profile, Frelick has enough to eclipse double-digit home runs annually while potentially standing out in three categories. As mentioned above, Frelick is an elite pure hitter that has a realistic chance of hitting above .300 for his career, with over 20 steals annually and plenty of runs scored while hitting near or at the top of Milwaukee's lineup. If everything clicks, we could be looking at a Tommy Edman clone with the skills to provide a higher AVG and OBP. At the moment, Garrett Mitchell appears to be receiving the first crack at the center field gig, and Joey Wiemer is lurking as well. Still, Frelick's bat is Major League ready, and we should see him in Milwaukee's lineup relatively early this season.
