Ryan Pressly 2023 Player Outlook: Remains One Of Fantasy's Best Closers
2 years agoHouston Astros closer Ryan Pressly turned in another quality season in 2022 and should have no trouble continuing that success in 2023 as one of fantasy baseball's top closing options. The relief pitcher made 50 appearances for the Houston-based American League West club during the 2022 campaign, logging a 2.98 ERA and a 2.31 FIP in 48.1 innings of work. He also added 65 strikeouts on the season to go along with 13 walks and a career-high 33 saves. Those saves should continue to come with regularity for the defending World Series champions this coming season, as Pressly is pitching in an ideal fantasy environment on a team with both a quality bullpen and an excellent lineup. Rafael Montero, Ryne Stanek, Hector Neris, and Bryan Abreu are all back as setup options to help build the bridge to Pressly in the ninth inning, while Jose Abreu joined the Astros, giving Houston an even stronger lineup. Pressly should once again be a top-five option at the position in fantasy drafts ahead of the 2023 season.
