Ryan Preece Will Start 31st At His Home Track, New Hampshire Motor Speedway
6 months agoOn Saturday afternoon, Ryan Preece qualified 31st for Sunday's USA Today 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Despite this being considered a home track for the Connecticut native, Preece has struggled here in his Cup career. With an average finish of 23.8 in five Cup starts, and with an average DraftKings score of just seven points in the Next Gen car at this venue, the Stewart-Haas Racing star has done very little that would justify playing him with any degree of confidence. While he does have two top-five finishes at the Xfinity level here, his last Xfinity start at this track was back in 2018, which is a significant gap of time to where we are today. Hometown narratives aside, the only argument for rostering Ryan Preece this weekend is that his starting position does provide significant place differential upside. At a DraftKings salary of just $6,600, the seven-year Cup veteran would only have to finish 20th to return value, which is certainly possible. Although we do not want to ignore his struggles at this track, we also do not want to miss out on a potential value play either. Because of this, it is recommended that you have some exposure to the No. 41, but that you limit this exposure to a max of 10% of your lineup builds.
