Ryan Miller Holds Back Kings Attack, Earns the Win
Anaheim Ducks goaltender Ryan Miller stopped 46 of 47 shots on Saturday night, earning his sixth win of the season. Miller's lone goal allowed came on a Kings' power play late in the second period. Doing his best impression of a brick wall, Miller's 46 saves are a season-high mark and a personal best with the Ducks. This is two fantastic starts in a row for Miller now, who stopped 26 of 27 shots in his last start but follow a rough stretch of three games where Miller failed to reach even a .900 save percentage. While his season save percentage (.912) outranks starter John Gibson's (.904), there is no brewing goalie controversy here, and Miller can only be expected to make a handful of starts per month. Team play and his streaky success will keep Miller from becoming a preferred spot start, but he has proven that he still has the high-end skill to steal a game occasionally.
