Ryan Miller Holds Back Kings Attack, Earns the Win
5 years agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender Ryan Miller stopped 46 of 47 shots on Saturday night, earning his sixth win of the season. Miller's lone goal allowed came on a Kings' power play late in the second period. Doing his best impression of a brick wall, Miller's 46 saves are a season-high mark and a personal best with the Ducks. This is two fantastic starts in a row for Miller now, who stopped 26 of 27 shots in his last start but follow a rough stretch of three games where Miller failed to reach even a .900 save percentage. While his season save percentage (.912) outranks starter John Gibson's (.904), there is no brewing goalie controversy here, and Miller can only be expected to make a handful of starts per month. Team play and his streaky success will keep Miller from becoming a preferred spot start, but he has proven that he still has the high-end skill to steal a game occasionally.
