Ryan McMahon Continues To Struggle
6 years agoColorado Rockies second baseman Ryan McMahon got a chance to pinch hit on Sunday, and he took a walk. Unfortunately, that's about as well as he's done recently. Since knocking a pair of solo home runs last weekend, McMahon has gone just 2-for-12 with a pair of singles as Brendan Rodgers continues to dominate the playing time at second base. To make matters worse for McMahon, Rodgers has excelled so far, hitting .308 in his first taste of major league at-bats. The good news is that Rodgers is being buoyed by a .500 BABIP and striking out nearly 40% of the time, so his performance is unsustainable. The bad news is that McMahon is still underperforming and putting zero pressure on Rodgers. If McMahon is going to keep regular playing time, he needs to turn it around quickly. Otherwise, he could easily find himself without a regular spot. Again.
