Russell Wilson 2018 Outlook: Back to Back QB1
6 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks will look like a completely different team in 2018. The old shut down defense and pound the ball on the ground offense are not there anymore. After some changes on defense and more fire power in the west than years past, the Seahawks may find themselves in an unfamiliar area of playing through a negative game script more times than not.
Considering who the Seahawks will need to play next year, banking on Russell Wilson to be a top quarterback will be an easy bet to make. Outside of the six interdivision games against the Rams, 49ers and Cardinals, the Seahawks will need to play the entire NFC North which will be ripe with offensive weapons plus the Chargers, Cowboys and Chiefs. You don’t need to a bunch of fancy numbers to understand that Wilson will be throwing and running a lot this year. If you need to invest in any QB1 outside of Aaron Rodgers, it’s Wilson.
Wilson had 37 total touchdowns in 2018, 34 which were passing touchdowns that led the league. In 2018, it wouldn’t be out of the question to see Wilson to score more than 40 total touchdowns with the lack of offense weapons around him. Last season Wilson accounted for more than 80% of the Seahawks total offense. Looks like Wilson will need to carry the Seahawks once again.
