Russell Gage 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Lost Season Due To Torn Knee Tendon
1 year agoWide receiver Russell Gage was on everyone's breakout list last summer heading into his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his fantasy value was quickly torpedoed when the Bucs signed veteran Julio Jones. The 27-year-old was never really a reliable fantasy asset in 12-team leagues, catching 51 of his 70 targets for 426 yards (career-low 8.4 yards per reception) in just 13 games (four starts), although he did visit the end zone a career-high five times. Gage was in line to be the team's No. 3 wideout behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin before tearing the patellar tendon in his knee in training camp. Gage will miss the entire 2023 campaign and will return in 2024 for the final year of his current deal. With Gage out this year, Deven Thompkins, David Moore and rookie sixth-rounder Trey Palmer will compete for the No. 3 job.
