Royce Freeman 2020 Outlook: A Forgotten Man With Fall To Third On Depth Chart
5 years agoRoyce Freeman was taken in the third round in 2018, but he's been overshadowed by undrafted talent Phillip Lindsay in his two years in Denver. Freeman has had a role, though, rushing for 1,017 yards on 262 carries (3.9 yards per tote) and eight rushing TDs in his two seasons. He even saw an increase from 14 to 43 receptions in 2019 despite starting zero games compared to eight as a rookie. There's still a chance that the 24-year-old could see some short-yardage and goal-line looks in 2020, but the addition of Melvin Gordon III in free agency pretty much ruins any potential fantasy value Freeman had coming into this season. For him to become fantasy relevant in standard-size leagues again, one of Gordon or Lindsay would have to miss time with an injury.
