Ross Stripling Pitches Two Scoreless Innings
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays hurler Ross Stripling allowed three hits over two innings but held the Baltimore Orioles off the score sheet. With rookie phenom Nate Pearson expected to begin the year on the injured list, the former Dodgers right-hander is the early favorite to fill his spot. Throwing in his first game this spring, Stripling's fastball was working in his normal 90-93 mph range and he generated two swinging strikes with the pitch. Last season, opponents torched his heater to the tune of a .333 batting average and .787 slugging percentage. Establishing the fastball command will allow Stripling to more effectively utilize his secondary offerings to generate outs.
