Ross Stripling 2023 Player Outlook: Plenty Of Fantasy Upside
2 years agoRight-hander Ross Stripling enjoyed arguably his best season in the Majors in 2022, making 32 appearances for the Toronto Blue Jays. Of those 32 appearances, 24 were starts. All told, the 32-year-old logged a 3.01 ERA, a 3.11 FIP, 111 strikeouts, and just 20 walks in 134.1 innings of work. The right-hander also registered 10 pitcher wins and a save. Now a member of the San Francisco Giants after signing with the National League West club as a free agent, Stripling should have some quality fantasy upside heading into 2023. In the five seasons in which the starter has logged at least 90 innings, he's logged an ERA south of the 4.00 mark four different times. Elsewhere, Stripling finished in the 98th percentile in walk rate last year with a 3.7% metric and now gets to pitch half of his games at spacious Oracle Park. And while the former Blue Jay didn't post gaudy strikeout numbers in his last season in Toronto, there's a lot to like here as a late-round rotation option for fantasy managers.
