Rookie Carson Hocevar Finishes With The Top Speed In Saturday's Practice At Loudon
6 months agoSpire Motorsports rookie Carson Hocevar will start 20th in Sunday's USA Today 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Because New Hampshire is a flat-banked track, handling and patience are essential to having success at this venue, a set of skills that a driver typically develops from experience. Given that this will be Hocevar's first start at this track in any of NASCAR's top three levels, that experience just isn't there, which would typically make him a very risky play heading into the weekend. Nevertheless, despite his inexperience, the 21-year-old went out and dominated in Saturday's practice, finishing with the fastest speed (127.534) of any driver in the session. While there is certainly a difference between the actual race and practice, his efforts on Saturday should help eliminate some of the concerns we may have had about him entering the weekend. Given that his salary is just $6,300 on DraftKings and that he is starting 20th, Hocevar will only have to finish 15th to return value, a feat he is certainly capable of. Although you do not want to go overweight on the young driver, it is recommended that you at least have some exposure to the No. 77 in DFS this weekend.
