Roki Sasaki 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Hyped Prospect Still Has Work to Do for Fantasy Relevance
Roki Sasaki was among last season's most hyped prospects, and he didn't deliver. A right shoulder impingement limited his workload, but his 1-1 record, 4.46 ERA, 5.75 xERA, and 5.53 xFIP in 36 ⅓ innings pitched weren't impressive when on the field. The combination of a 17.4 K% and 13.7 BB% simply won't work in MLB, and Sasaki's elite stuff didn't look the part. His fastball averaged 96.1 mph but generated a 4.8 SwStr%. His splitter posted a decent 14.4 SwStr% but a 29.8 percent Zone% and 31.5 percent chase rate. His slider had an 8.9 SwStr% but a 43.6 Zone% and 14 percent chase rate. Sasaki was lit up at Triple-A as well, posting a 6.10 ERA in 20 ⅔ IP. Sasaki's 0.84 ERA in the playoffs masked a 5.72 xFIP and 2.4 K-BB%, so he didn't figure anything out in October. The Dodgers are an excellent team, but they'll probably stick with a six-man rotation that limits the fantasy upside of all their pitchers. Sasaki still has upside, but his 208.60 ADP is a little steep for the skills he's shown.
