Ricky Tiedemann Scratched With Left-Hamstring Tightness
10 months agoToronto Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann (hamstring) has been scratched as the starter for Saturday's Grapefruit League opener against the Philadelphia Phillies due to left-hamstring tightness. The team doesn't think the injury is serious, but manager John Schneider said he'll have a better idea on Saturday. The Blue Jays aren't going to pitch one of the best pitching prospects in the game -- MLB Pipeline has him ranked as the No. 29 overall prospect -- especially after Tiedemann missed 10 weeks in 2023 with a biceps injury. The 21-year-old southpaw has some of the best stuff of any pitching prospect, but he's probably more likely to begin the season at Triple-A Buffalo, and Toronto will almost certainly keep him on a strict innings limit once he reaches the big leagues. Temper expectations in single-year fantasy leagues in 2024.
