Rhys Hoskins Sitting On Sunday
6 months agoMilwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins is not in Sunday's lineup as the Brewers look to avoid a four-game sweep at the hands of the San Diego Padres. Hoskins has started the past six games and will cede first base duties to 23-year-old Tyler Black, who will bat second. Hoskins has posted a modest .223/.317/.411 slash line through his first 56 games in Milwaukee with 10 home runs and two stolen bases. However, he holds a strong 13.4% barrel rate, which suggests he should see an increase in home runs during the summer. Black recently rejoined the major league roster on June 19 and has posted a .226/.294/.290 line through 10 games this season. He has a difficult matchup ahead of him this afternoon in San Diego right-hander Michael King, who has posted a stellar 1.69 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 9:34 BB:K ratio in his past five starts.
