Reid Detmers Worked To Refine His Mechanics
10 months agoLos Angeles Angels left-hander Reid Detmers, who has had a rollercoaster first couple of years in the big leagues, said that he worked to refine his mechanics over the winter and now has a better idea of what he needs to fix when his delivery goes awry. The former first-rounder in 2020, who threw a perfect game in 2022, is aiming for more consistency after going 12-19 with a 4.37 ERA (4.14 FIP) and 1.32 WHIP with 117 walks and 309 strikeouts in 298 1/3 innings over 58 starts in his first three big-league campaigns. Detmers' goal in 2023 was to win 20 games, but he ended up winning just four. With a softer slider now in his arsenal, he was able to finish last year with a 2.41 ERA in his final seven starts, giving hope to fantasy managers that he may actually be able to put it all together in 2024.
