The Boston Red Sox have signed outfielder Braden Montgomery for $5 million, slightly below the slot value of $5,480,000. Montgomery was selected 12th overall in the first-round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Texas A&M. The outfielder suffered a broken leg prior to the draft, but his talent was too much for the Red Sox to pass up on. The switch-hitter provides plenty of power, in addition to being a very good defender. It is unknown where Montgomery will begin his professional career and if his leg is fully recovered, but he has the potential to rise quickly through the farm.
