Rashard Higgins 2021 Outlook: Has He Peaked Or Are We Just Scratching The Surface
4 years agoOne of the most wildly inconsistent receivers in the NFL over the last four seasons has been Rashard Higgins of the Cleveland Browns. Higgins seems to be a player you forget about for 4-5 games and then he posts impressive numbers and displays talent that leaves you wondering why he isn't a force at the NFL level. Higgins has yet to catch 40 passes in a season but he gets open downfield and is a great red zone target. Higgins was targeted 52 times last year and posted a career-high 16.2 YPC. So what gives in 2021? Walk away from Higgins and don't even think about making him a late-round selection. The Browns increased his workload after the injury to Odell Beckham Jr. Donovan Peoples-Jones is starting to develop into a reliable option and the Browns invested a third-round selection in Anthony Schwartz, a player who many believe was the fastest player in the entire 2021 draft class. Harrison Bryant is becoming more involved in the offense as the Browns have been using more two tight end sets in their run-oriented offense. Higgins will see his snap count decrease and is not a lock to make the team if the Browns have some tough decisions to make with their skill positions on offense.
