Raptors Focused On Re-Signing Fred Vanvleet, Jakob Poeltl
1 year agoToronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet and center Jakob Poeltl are both expected to hit the open market this summer. Despite that, it sounds like the organization is making a strong push to bring both players back. The Raptors gave up a protected first-round pick in exchange for Poeltl at the trade deadline. They'd hate to lose him for nothing, especially since he was a reliable option for them during the 25 games he played with Toronto. The assumption is that the Raptors would be able to sign Poeltl for a deal around four years, $80 million, but we'll see how much interest he has on the open market. The Raptors would also like to bring back the seven-year veteran in Vanvleet. As expected, he declined his player option and is reportedly seeking $30 million per season in free agency. That's not a terrible deal given how well Vanvleet has played for the Raptors throughout his career. It sounds like the main focus of the Raptors this offseason is bringing back their own players.
