3 months agoThe Texas Rangers agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with starting pitcher Kyle Gibson on Wednesday, according to a source. He'll join a rotation that will include veterans Mike Minor and Lance Lynn. The 32-year-old Gibson went 13-7 with 160 strikeouts for the Twins last season but posted a 4.73 ERA while giving up 26 earned runs in his last six starts after dealing with the effects of ulcerative colitis. Gibson was moved to the bullpen in September and continued to struggle to close out the season into the playoffs. The right-hander has made at least 25 starts in each of the last six seasons for the Twins and set career highs in strikeout rate (9.0 K/9) and average fastball velocity (93.8 mph) in 2019. If he can't keep the ball on the ground more in Texas, though, he could have a really tough season in 2020.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
