Pyotr Kochetkov Shuts Out The Islanders
2 years agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov eased his way to his second shutout of the season Saturday, needing to produce only 16 saves to keep the Islanders at bay in a 3-0 win. It was a very lethargic performance from the home team, and it appeared that the Islanders were completely out of gas in the third period when they sent just four shots in Kochetkov's way. The 23-year-old Russian became the fourth rookie goaltender in league history with a season-opening road point streak of nine-plus games, and he's only the second netminder with at least one point in each of his first 12 road appearances, so Kochetkov is clearly enjoying the away days. He's now sitting on a 6-1-4 record and boasts a 2.21 goals-against average with a .918 save percentage.
