PJ Walker Has Ankle Sprain, Baker Mayfield To Start In Week 11
2 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback PJ Walker (ankle) has a high-ankle sprain, so Baker Mayfield will get the start in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens. Sam Darnold will serve as Mayfield's backup. Walker apparently suffered the ankle sprain in last Thursday's win over the Atlanta Falcons, and he'll miss at least one week and likely more. The Panthers don't have a timetable for his return, but we won't go on Injured Reserve. Mayfield came in to replace an ineffective Walker in Week 9 and went 14-for-20 for 155 yards and two touchdowns in garbage time, but he hasn't started a game since Week 5. The 27-year-old should give the Panthers offense more upside through the air, but he won't be anything more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues in Week 11 against an improving Baltimore defense.
