Pirates, Marlins Discussing Edward Cabrera Trade
10 months agoIn an attempt to bolster their starting rotation, the Pittsburgh Pirates have reportedly been in contact with the Miami Marlins to discuss a trade involving starting pitcher Edward Cabrera, per Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Jason Mackey. Such a deal would involve the Pirates sending one of three infielders: Liover Peguero, Nick Gonzales, or Ji Hwan Bae. Cabrera has shown plenty of strikeout upside but a lack of control so far in his big-league career, going 7-7 with a 4.24 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 27.2% strikeout rate, and 15.2% walk rate in 99 2/3 innings pitched in 2023. From a fantasy perspective, a Cabrera trade from the Marlins, who have had a knack for developing young pitchers in recent history to the Pirates would be a hit on his fantasy value.
