Philip Rivers Will Not Play On Sunday
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers will not play on Sunday, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. It's not a surprising move for a team that is currently missing its No. 1 running back, its No. 1 wide receiver, and its No. 1 safety while still holding out hopes for a Super Bowl run. Rivers certainly doesn't need to prove anything in the preseason, as the 37-year-old is coming off a 4,300-yard season that included 32 touchdown passes. Instead, the backup competition between Cardale Jones, Easton Stick, and Tyrod Taylor should gain plenty of attention. Rivers also came out in support of teammate Melvin Gordon this week and said his own contract will be addressed next offseason.
