According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, veteran winger Phil Kessel is ready to sacrifice his ironman streak if needed to continue his NHL career in 2023-24. The three-time Stanley Cup champion is an unrestricted free agent after completing a one-year contract with the Vegas Golden Knights. Kessel set the NHL record for most consecutive regular-season games played last season and finished the campaign with 1,064 straight appearances. He posted 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) in 82 games while averaging a career-low 12:49 of ice time. The 35-year-old remained serviceable in 2022-23 but has struggled to get a contract for the upcoming campaign. Letting teams know that he is ready to sit out games could generate some interest in his services. Kessel last missed a regular-season contest on Oct. 31, 2009.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerRead More News
