Pete Fairbanks Exits Early Tuesday After Being Hit In Hand By Comebacker
6 months agoTampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks (hand) was forced to exit Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Twins early in the ninth inning after being hit in the right hand attempting to field a ball hit by Carlos Correa. Fairbanks attempted to throw several warm-up pitches after but ultimately exited the game. He ended up as the losing pitcher of record with a final line of 2/3 innings pitched and one run allowed on two hits, no walks, and a strikeout. Fantasy managers should look for more news from the team about the severity of the injury, but Fairbanks should be considered day-to-day until any more serious news comes out. It would be unfortunate if Fairbanks had to miss any significant time, as he has already spent time on the injured list this season due to nerve issues in his right arm.
