Pete Alonso Likely To Miss Time
11 months agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) will likely hit the injured list, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, and could miss a few weeks of action. The slugger was out of the lineup for Thursday's loss to the Atlanta Braves after he exited Wednesday's contest following a hit by a pitch to the wrist. This is a tough blow for fantasy managers, as Alonso is one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball and is slashing .231/.326/.546 with a league-leading 22 bombs, 41 runs, 49 RBI, and a pair of steals across 62 games. Mark Vientos could see more time at first in the 28-year-old's absence. The second-year player is only batting .162 over 13 games, but he posted a .333 average and 1.104 OPS with 13 homers through 38 games at Triple-A, making a decent buy-low bat.
