Boston Red Sox left-handed pitching prospect Payton Tolle dazzled in his latest outing on Sunday as he tallied a season-high 12 punchouts during his victory over High-A Asheville. In this start, Tolle allowed just three hits and did not allow a run or a walk. The Boston Red Sox drafted Tolle in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of TCU. Tolle made his professional debut with High-A Greenville earlier this summer. Through his first 14 2/3 innings of work, the southpaw has held a 4.30 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. During this stint, he has struck out 29 batters and allowed just five free passes. Tolle is currently considered the No. 17-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. If he continues to show high strikeout potential at High-A, he could reach Double-A later this summer.--Andy SmithRead More News
