Patrick Bailey Resuming Baseball Activities
4 months agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey (oblique) will resume baseball activities this weekend, according to the team. Barring a setback, Bailey will likely be back from the 10-day injured list before the end of August, which is why free-agent catcher Elias Diaz turned down the Giants as a possible destination. The Giants aren't guaranteeing a roster spot with Bailey expected to return sooner than later. Bailey is eligible to return from the IL on Aug. 29. The 25-year-old switch-hitting backstop was hitting a dreadful .057 (3-for-53) with a double, two RBI and 13 strikeouts in 15 games in the month of July before landing on the shelf. With better health, hopefully Bailey will be able to pick things up offensively in the final month of the season. Veteran Curt Casali is currently serving as the Giants' starter, with Andrew Knapp backing him up.
