Panthers Re-Sign Joey Slye
5 years agoThe Carolina Panthers agreed to a one-year contract extension with impending exclusive-rights free-agent kicker Joey Slye on Thursday. In Slye's first NFL season, he was 25-for-32 on field-goal attempts and made 31 of his 35 extra points. He was 8-for-11 from 50-plus yards, with his longest make coming from 55 yards out. Slye's eight made kicks of over 50 yards was the most in the NFL in 2019 and set a franchise record. He also had 70 kickoffs with only three not resulting in a touchback. Slye took over as the kicker when Graham Gano was placed on Injured Reserve before the start of the season. He has a big leg, but he'll need to be more consistent to keep his job moving forward.
