2 weeks agoLos Angeles Rams wide receiver Allen Robinson II has been given permission to seek a trade this offseason. The 29-year-old might not be easy to move considering he's fully guaranteed $15.25 million for the upcoming season. However, the organization has already mentioned they are willing to cover a portion of the salary in order to move on from Robinson. Last season, Robinson finished with 33 receptions, 339 yards, and three touchdowns in 10 games. It was the first of a three-year deal he signed that past offseason. Possibly, Robinson will return to fantasy relevancy on a new team, but we'll wait and see where he ends up.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Jourdan Rodriguez
2 weeks agoAccording to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, Matt Patricia "has a shot" to join the Eagles' coaching staff. Although Guregian couldn't confirm his role, it would presumably be on the defensive side of the ball. After the 48-year-old was relieved of his head coaching duties by the Lions, he spent the last three seasons with the Patriots in various roles. He also interviewed for the then-vacant Broncos defensive coordinator spot, although that job went to Vance Joseph. While the door hasn't been shut on Patricia returning to the Patriots, it won't be calling the offense like he did last season, as new offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien is now in charge.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Karen Guregian
2 weeks agoImpending free-agent quarterback Mason Rudolph will hit the open market for the first time in his five-year NFL career. While there's a chance he may end up back in Pittsburgh, another team appears interested, with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reporting the signal-caller is rumored to be on the 49ers' radar. Players like Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield have been tied to San Francisco, with Brady an obvious stretch, but adding Rudolph could be on the agenda if the team can't successfully land one of the preferred options. The 27-year-old has amassed 2,366 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions since being drafted in 2018, so he's had an decent career. However, even if Rudolph starts a few games in San Francisco, Trey Lance (ankle) or Brock Purdy (elbow) will reclaim the role once healthy.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano
2 weeks agoUpcoming free-agent linebacker Samson Ebukam could sign for big money this offseason, with Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reporting the 27-year-old may be in line to earn around $11 million per season. After spending four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, he signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the 49ers in March 2021. The 2017 fourth-round pick is coming off the best season of his career, finishing with five sacks, second on the team behind Joey Bosa. It's unknown if the Niners are willing to pay him the kind of money he's seeking. However, Ebukam continues to improve from year to year, so he's worth monitoring in IDP leagues.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Jeremy Fowler/Dan Graziano
2 weeks agoMinnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen has been having ongoing discussions about his contract with the organization. The 32-year-old wideout is set to earn nearly $20 million for the upcoming 2023 campaign. That is quite a lot of money for a wide receiver that hasn't topped 1,000 yards receiving since 2018. The team could save $6.4 million by cutting Thielen and $13.4 million by releasing him post-June 1 designation. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Vikings move on from Thielen. He has become the No. 3 option on this offense. Another option, would be Thielen taking a paycut to stay in Minnesota. The Vikings would likely be open to this considering Thielen is still productive, but isn't worth the money he is being paid. The paycut would need to be significant, but might be the best result for both sides.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Star Tribune
2 weeks agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to draw plenty of interest on the free agent market. One team that appears to be in the mix is the Las Vegas Raiders, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano. The Raiders are reportedly in the mix for Aaron Rodgers, but could view Garoppolo as their backup plan. It's worth noting that Garoppolo is familiar with Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels. The 31-year-old has struggled to stay healthy in recent years, but has been a reliable option at quarterback when he does play. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Raiders take a look at Garoppolo, assuming the money is right.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
2 weeks agoNew York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is currently not close to signing an extension with the organization. During the midway point of last season, Barkley turned down an extension that would've paid roughly $12 million per year. The star back is reportedly seeking a deal that pays closer to $16 million, which is what Christian McCaffrey received from the Carolina Panthers in 2020. Possibly, the two sides can meet in the middle somewhere at $14 million per season. It seems unlikely that the two are going to work out a deal before free agency begins.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Ian Rapoport
2 weeks agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is set to be a free agent this offseason. The organization is expected to attempt to re-sign Smith-Schuster, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. He originally joined the Chiefs on a one-year deal last offseason, but is expected to seek a multi-year deal now. Smith-Schuster finished with 78 receptions, 933 yards, and three touchdowns with the Chiefs last season. He's not exactly the same playmaker as he used to be, but could still be a reliable slot option for the Chiefs.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
2 weeks agoNew England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has reportedly not made much progress on a contract extension with the organization, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano. That being said, it seems likely that Meyers will hit the open market on March 15th. It is speculated that Meyers could get a deal similar to that of fellow wide receiver Christian Kirk. If that's true, Meyers would get a deal worth $18 million per season, but which is technically in the Patriots budget. However, it's unlikely that they will want to spend that much money in one place. Possibly, Meyers returns to New England if his other deals fall short in free agency. It seems more likely than not that Meyers will be playing with another organization next season. His fantasy value is going to be determined on wherever he lands this offseason.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
2 weeks agoUSC wide receiver Jordan Addison (back), who has potential to be the first receiver taken in this year's draft, shut it down at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Saturday due to a minor back strain. He will finish his workouts for NFL scouts at his school's pro day on March 21. The 21-year-old's back was likely responsible for him running a disappointing 4.49-second 40-yard dash on Saturday before he shut it down. Addison measured in at 5-foot-11, 173 pounds, and questions about whether his body will hold up at the next level is the biggest concern for his draft stock. But Addison does have elite speed, which should allow him to gain plenty of separation for whichever NFL team takes him in April's draft.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
2 weeks agoUniversity of Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson set the QB record in the vertical jump at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Saturday with a leap of 40.5 inches. Richardson put on a show, also breaking the record for QBs in the broad jump (10-foot-9) while also running the third-fastest 40-yard dash (4.44 seconds) of all time among signal-callers. Many scouts and analysts are all over the map when projecting where Richardson will come off the board in this year's draft, but after his performance on Saturday, it's hard not to see him being taken in the first round despite questions about his accuracy and decision-making. Ideally, the 21-year-old will go to a team where he can sit and learn for a year or two. In fantasy circles, he has some tantalizing upside as a dual-threat QB.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
2 weeks agoUniversity of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who is considered the potential No. 1 overall pick of this year's NFL draft, officially measured in at 5-foot-10 1/8 inches at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Saturday. He also weighed in at 204 pounds and was measured with 9.75-inch hands. The 21-year-old's lack of size if the biggest knock on him and is why some scouts and analysts think he'd be a risky pick early in the first round as a franchise signal-caller. Young also doesn't have an elite arm, but he checks off all the other boxes at the position, including excellent accuracy. Despite his size issues, there will surely be a team that is willing to trade up in order to take him within the first five picks of April's draft.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
2 weeks agoThe New Orleans Saints restructured the contract of linebacker Demario Davis on Saturday by converting his 2023 base salary into a signing bonus. With restructures to Davis and tight end Taysom Hill, the Saints created $12.724 million in salary cap space for this season, according to a source. Davis is a big part of what the Saints do on defense. The 34-year-old made the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2022 with 109 tackles (54 solo), 10 tackles for loss, eight QB hits, a career-high 6.5 sacks, one interception, six passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 17 starts in his fifth year in New Orleans. The 11-year veteran has accumulated 100-plus total tackles in each of the last six seasons and in eight of his 11 seasons in the league.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN.com - Field Yates
2 weeks agoSan Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch conceded this week that the timing of quarterback Brock Purdy's injured right elbow could force the team's hand to look for a veteran to throw into the mix at the position. The Niners aren't expected to break the bank, but SI.com's Albert Breer thinks they could go after someone like Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent QB Baker Mayfield, who has the experience in that type of offense and plenty of starting experience as an insurance policy for both Purdy and Trey Lance (ankle). All signs are pointing towards Lance being the Niners' Week 1 starter in 2023, providing that he's healthy in training camp. Mayfield has proven he's more of a backup in the NFL at this point. He threw for 2,163 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 12 games (10 starts) for the Rams and Carolina Panthers in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: SI.com - Albert Breer
2 weeks agoIf the New York Giants can't get a long-term deal done with impending free-agent quarterback Daniel Jones before Tuesday's deadline to use the franchise tag, they plan to use the tag on Jones. That's where things appear to be headed now after the two sides have met the last few days at the combine, but there are still two days to go. After his season in the NFL in 2022, Jones is seeking an extension worth over $40 million per year. If they have to use the tag on Jones, it's likely that running back Saquon Barkley will reach the open market. Jones completed a career-high 67 percent of his passes in 2022 and ran for 708 yards and seven touchdowns, but he only threw for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns through the air.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
