Padres To Pursue Kwang-Hyun Kim
5 years agoThe San Diego Padres will pursue Korean starting pitcher Kwang-Hyun Kim this offseason after extensively scouting him. San Diego won the rights to Kim in 2014, but the two sides weren't able to reach an agreement and Kim returned to the Korean Baseball Organization. Teams have until Jan. 5 to sign Kim. The 31-year-old could be a fit for the Padres in the middle or back of their rotation if they land him. Kim throws in the low- to mid-90s and has a plus slider. He had a 2.51 ERA and 180 strikeouts in 190 1/3 innings last year in Korea. The Korean hurler has also already had Tommy John surgery on his arm.
