Packers Could Look To Trade Into Top 10
2 years agoThe Green Bay Packers moved up two spots from No. 15 overall to No. 13 in the first round of Thursday's night NFL draft when they officially dealt quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets earlier this week. They also added a high second-round selection, giving them more tools to engineer a trade up in the first round, perhaps to leapfrog the division-rival Chicago Bears at No. 9 to get a player they like. There's a lot of trade chatter that the Packers would target a tight end or offensive tackle, but history says they're more likely to take a defensive player that early. Since drafting Rodgers in 2005, Green Bay has made 18 first-round picks, and 15 of them have been defenders. ESPN's Dan Graziano is keeping a close eye on Georgia edge rusher Nolan Smith.
