OG Anunoby Declines Player Option
6 months agoNew York Knicks forward OG Anunoby declined his $19.9 million player option on Monday, putting him in line to hit unrestricted free agency on June 30. Anunoby began the 2023-24 campaign by appearing in 27 games for the Toronto Raptors. But he was dealt to New York ahead of the trade deadline, where he averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.7 steals. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old was limited to only 23 appearances with the Knicks during the regular season because of an elbow issue. Anunoby also missed time in the postseason because of a hamstring injury. Without question, the 2017 No. 23 overall pick was a difference maker for the Knicks, so the team will do everything possible to keep him. However, he's expected to double his annual salary on the open market.
