Nolan Arenado Trade Talks Off Table For Now
5 years agoColorado Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich said that All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado will not be traded before spring training opens next month. Trade talks are off the table for now. The 28-year-old signed an eight-year, $260 million deal last February and is still owed $234 million for seven seasons. The seven-time Gold Glover and five-time All-Star can opt out of his deal after the 2021 season, making a trade possible over the next few years if the Rockies don't contend. He also has a full no-trade clause. A trade of Arenado has always been unlikely, but it will become more likely after this year's All-Star break if Colorado isn't playing well. He's been tied in trade talks to the Cardinals, Rangers and Braves, but sources said the Rockies asking price was very high for a player considered to be the best third baseman in the game.
