Nolan Arenado Signing Massive Eight-Year Extension With Rockies
6 years agoColorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado is finalizing an eight-year, $260 million contract extension that includes an opt-out clause after three years and a full no-trade clause. The contract replaces the one-year, $26 million deal that he was awarded in arbitration this season. The agreement will give Arenado the highest annual salary of any position player at $32.5 million. The franchise third baseman was set to become a free agent next offseason, but now he will be a Rockie until at least 2021. Arenado slashed .297/.374/.561 last season with 38 home runs, 110 RBI, and 73 walks. He is a perennial all-star that has won six straight Gold Gloves and four straight Silver Sluggers. Arenado is a legitimate superstar that is going to get paid like one for the next eight seasons.
