Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed (hand) left the game early on Thursday with a left hand contusion. Ahmed was hitless in two plate appearances before leaving and is hitting .268/.320/.418 with five home runs, 36 runs, 30 RBI and four steals in 292 plate appearances on the season. It doesn't sound like a very serious injury, so consider him day-to-day until we find out more about his condition. If Ahmed is forced to miss time, Ildemaro Vargas could fill in at shortstop, although he's not much of an option outside of NL-only affairs.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
