Nathan Peterman Released By Raiders
3 years agoThe Las Vegas Raiders released quarterback Nathan Peterman on Tuesday. Peterman was serving as Derek Carr's backup after Marcus Mariota (quadriceps) was injured in the Week 2 game, but Mariota is fully healthy now, so the Raiders decided to move on from Peterman. The 27-year-old signal-caller carried the ball two times for two yards while playing four offensive snaps in the Week 5 loss to the Chicago Bears, but that's all the action he's seen in 2021. Peterman has played in two games for the Raiders in the last two seasons, and he has only four games started in his four seasons in the NFL, all coming with the Buffalo Bills in 2017 and 2018.

Raiders Release Nathan Peterman
7 months agoThe Las Vegas Raiders released veteran quarterback Nathan Peterman on Tuesday, according to a source. Peterman only lasted two weeks on the Raiders roster while Gardner Minshew II and Aidan O'Connell were still competing for the starting role under center. With Peterman now out of the picture, Vegas will roll with Minshew as the starter, O'Connell as the backup and rookie Carter Bradley as the QB3 for the Week 1 regular-season opener against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers. In the preseason finale, the 30-year-old veteran went 12-for-19 for 108 yards and a touchdown. The journeyman backup QB started his career with the Buffalo Bills after they took him in the fifth round in 2017 out of Pittsburgh. Peterman has played in only 15 games (five starts) in his six years in the NFL and has 712 yards passing, four touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Nathan Peterman's Fantasy Impact Remains Limited Amidst Raiders' QB Battle
7 months agoLas Vegas Raides quarterback Nathan Peterman completed 12-of-19 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his poise and experience in Friday’s 24-24 tie to the San Francisco 49ers. Despite this, his path to fantasy relevance remains obstructed by Aidan O'Connell, who seems to have the inside track for the backup quarterback position behind Gardner Minshew II. Peterman's familiarity with the Raiders could aid his case for a roster spot, but from a fantasy perspective, this performance doesn't elevate him beyond a deep-league watchlist candidate. Even if secured, his role projects to be behind O'Connell, rendering Peterman largely irrelevant for fantasy rosters unless significant changes or injuries alter the depth chart. Fantasy managers should monitor the situation, but Peterman's fantasy impact looks minimal for the upcoming season.

He has gone 85-for-160 for 712 yards, four touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 15 games (five starts) in his six seasons in the NFL. In Vegas, he'll be competing for the No. 3 role with Anthony Brown Jr. as Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell battle for the starting gig under center to kick off the 2024 regular season in early September.
