Mitch Haniger Placed On 10-Day Injured List
2 years agoThe San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Mitch Haniger (forearm) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a right-forearm fracture. In corresponding moves, the team recalled outfield prospect Luis Matos and infielder David Villar from Triple-A Sacramento. It's not a surprise that Haniger is going on the injured list after fracturing his right forearm on a hit by pitch on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals, and he might need surgery to fix it. It would be a surprise if the 32-year-old veteran doesn't land on the 60-day IL eventually. Matos and Blake Sabol could split playing time in the outfield for the foreseeable future. Haniger wasn't really doing much at the plate for fantasy managers this year, hitting .230 (34-for-148) with nine doubles, four home runs, 22 RBI and 20 runs scored in 40 games played.
