Mitch Haniger Expected To Miss 10 Weeks
1 year agoThe San Francisco Giants are saying that the initial estimate for outfielder Mitch Haniger (forearm), who underwent surgery to fix a fractured right forearm on Thursday, is 10 weeks. If his rehab goes well, there's a chance Haniger could return for the final month of the regular season in September. It's tough news for Haniger in his first year with the team. Fantasy managers in mixed leagues can send the 32-year-old veteran to the waiver wire, as he was hitting only .230 (34-for-148) with nine doubles, four home runs, 22 RBI and 20 runs score in 160 trips to the plate over 40 games. With Haniger out for most of the rest of the season, Austin Slater and Luis Matos will see more playing time in San Francisco's outfield. Slater has played in only 19 games, but he's currently hitting .396 (19-for-48) with a homer and nine RBI.
