Mike Zimmer A Candidate For Cowboys Defensive-Coordinator Job
11 months agoFormer Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer will interview with the Dallas Cowboys for their defensive-coordinator vacancy, according to a source. The 67-year-old got his first NFL coaching gig with the Cowboys in 1994 and was the defensive coordinator in Dallas from 2000 to 2006. He also served as a defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals and was the head coach of the Vikings from 2014-21. Dan Quinn, who was Dallas' defensive coordinator the last three years, recently left to become the Washington Commanders' new head coach. In Zimmer's eight seasons as the Vikings' head coach, he compiled a record of 72-56-1. The Cowboys defense is already one of the stronger units in the NFL that he'd be inheriting.
