Mike Tauchman To "Miss Significant Time"
6 months agoChicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) is being placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 2 left-groin strain. Tauchman's injury will require four weeks to heal, and manager Craig Counsell said, "He's going to miss significant time." The 33-year-old left-handed slugger will not return to the Cubs' lineup until after the All-Star break. With Tauchman now out for the foreseeable future, Cody Bellinger figures to move back to more of a full-time role in the outfield, which will open up more playing time for Michael Busch at first base. Bellinger is in right field and is batting third on Tuesday against San Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb. Tauchman has seen a regular role in Chicago this year, batting .259 (57-for-220) with five home runs, 19 RBI, five stolen bases and 38 runs scored in 66 games played.
