Edmonton Oilers goaltender Mike Smith has failed his physical ahead of training camp and is set to go on long-term Injured Reserve. The veteran netminder battled through various injuries last term and he's not expected to feature at all during the upcoming season. The Oilers snapped up Jack Campbell on a five-year deal in the summer, and the former Maple Leaf looks set to get a lot of burn. He had a strong campaign in 2021-22 with a 31-9-6 record and a career-high five shutouts, but Campbell has also been injury-prone in the past few years, so it will be interesting to see how well he can cope with the heavy workload.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
