Mike Gesicki 2018 Outlook: Physical Talent Isn't the Issue
6 years agoMiami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki was the second TE off the board in the 2018 NFL Draft, making it clear that his impressive Combine numbers impressed scouts. Even as a second-round pick, it's rare for rookie tight ends to make an immediate impact but Gesicki will be given every chance to become the starter. With only journeyman A.J. Derby and career backup MarQueis Gray to beat out, Gesicki stands to see more targets than any other TE in this year's draft class.
That said, he is playing for a team that projects to be one of the lesser offenses in the league and one that hasn't produced a fantasy-relevant tight end over the last couple of years since Adam Gase took over. Gesicki is a strong pick in dynasty leagues but could be overvalued in redraft leagues, as he has no business being considered anything more than a low-end streamer.
