Mike Evans In For A Big Season?
1 year agoContrary to popular belief, The Athletic's Dan Pompei writes that the expectation in Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp is that veteran wide receiver Mike Evans will actually have more production with quarterback Baker Mayfield throwing him the ball than he did with Tom Brady. Brady never forced passes to any receivers, but Mayfield is more likely to turn to the big-bodied wideout, especially when his options are limited. Both Mayfield and backup Kyle Trask have shown confidence in Evans. Also, new offensive coordinator Dave Canales may draw up more plays for Evans, especially in the red zone. It's interesting to consider, but the 30-year-old's fantasy value has fallen considerably after Brady hung up his cleats. While Mayfield might force more throws to Evans, Tampa's offense as a whole isn't expected to be nearly as efficient.
